September 29, 2006 ~ No Phishing Zone

Beware of 'phishing', the fraudulent practice of soliciting personal and financial information over the internet. Canal City Savings will not send email to its members requesting you respond with personal information by an insecure method such as email. May we recommend that you:

1] Treat with suspicion any email with urgent requests for personal information or threatens that you may lose service if you don't respond immediately. The best practice is to delete such messages. Feel free to confirm the authenticity of any messages you believe originated from someone at Canal City Savings & Credit Union.

2] Avoid completing forms in email messages that request personal financial information. We know your account number and would not ask you to provide it.

3] Do not click links on a web page or in an email if you are not certain the message or site is authentic. Always be sure you are using a secure website (https://) when entering credit card information.

4] Check your statements regularly to verify the listed transactions are legitimate.

Your financial security is important and we want to help you protect yourself. Remember from your MemberCard Agreement, you have agreed not to share your PIN with anyone and not to use obvious combinations of digits (address, phone #, SIN, birthday etc.).

July 3, 2006 ~ Internet Banking Access

We recently experienced a situation whereby our website was unavailable for a period of time because of technical difficulties at Bell Canada. While this type of occurrence is very rare, we encourage our members to bookmark a link directly to our online banking site by adding it to your browser favourites. You will then have direct access to login to your account. Alternatively, you may wish to make note of the URL https://www5.memberdirect.net/direct/logon1.jsp?inst=/on/canalcity. In addition, you may find it useful to have the technical support number for MemberDirect 1-888-273-3488.

 September 1, 2005 ~ System Upgrade - Sunday, September 25th, 2005

In an effort to continue to serve our members in the most efficient manner possible, we are undergoing an upgrade of our banking software over the weekend of September 24-25, 2005. Unfortunately, this will mean that the Touch Tone (telephone) Banking and MemberDirect internet banking systems will be unavailable from approximately midnight until 9:00AM on Sunday the 25th. You will however be able to continue to use your MemberCard for ATM withdrawals and Point-of-sale purchases during this transition. We are sorry if this causes an inconvenience to some of our members but trust that you will be understanding during this time. It is our desire to serve you to the best of our abilities and we believe this upgrade will benefit all members.
